Normall y that wou ld be a b ad thing but he re the film works larg ely thanks t o a very good cast of mo stly unknow n actor s. The s tand out i s Andy Serk is, best know n for pl aying Goll um in the Lo rd of the Rings movi es. Here h e's the head of the nasty band and his vile ness seems to d rip off th e screen. If you wan t to kn ow why Pet er Jackson c hose hi m to play the tortured c reature in the bi g budgeted epic look no f urther. Ser kis isn& amp;#39;t o n screen much until the final porti on of the fi lm, bu t his eviln ess in the ea rly part of the film hangs ov er ever ything like a dark clo ud. Definitely worth a look f or those w ho want an unde manding thrill er, and tho se who want to see what And y Serkis i s capable of wh en he is n't doing just a computer genera ted character. 6.5 out of 10.
