Yes it a lso many elem ents of a cath olic moral (R osario li ves in guilt, her wa y of paying h er sins is by m eans of s acrifice ), but we ha ve to consider the movi e was rele ased in 1934 and the Mexican society o f the time had those values dicta ting our li ves and, weath er we t ake this into consideration or not, I think th e the plot i s really real ly tough an d the theme ve ry strong. Maybe no wadays w e have man y movies with plots t hat are twice or t hrice as tou gh, but I think th is is still a great, great movie and h as no so ap oper a can never e ven remotely compare wi th it.
