《外星恶客》剧情简介：Out of the fifties 'B' Science-Fiction monster movies, this easily ranks as the best. It's most notable as the film that ALIEN is an unaccredited remake of, thus giving it a certain historical significance. The intriguing plot is about the rescue of the only marooned survivor (Col. Carruthers) of an ill-fated expedition to Mars. The authorities, pig-headed as usual, falsely assume that he murdered his fellow crew members, so that he'd have more provisions to survive; hence he is being brought back to Earth to face court-martial for murder. (There is also a somewhat interesting plot reversal here: Most movies of this nature usually begin with the ship leaving Earth, enroute to its otherworld destination, while,  in this case,  the &amp;quot;story&amp;quot; is believed finished, and begins as the characters take-off from the other planet, returning to Earth). As the rescue ship is leaving Mars, a lurking, ominous shadow is seen in the lower compartment. (A frightening, atmospheric moment, accomplished through sheer economy and simplicity). Carruthers insists of his innocence to his fellow captors, claiming that his original crew mates were slaughtered by a hostile, unseen presence on the desolute red planet, but three-guesses as to their reaction to his unusual plea. Naturally,  he can&amp;#39;t prove it, and 50&#39;s space authorities were not very alien conscience at the time. (As a side-thought, &amp;quot;unseen menace&quot; may remind you of that highly "original&quot; BLAIR WITCH). As everyone sacks out, a hapless supporting charactor whose name is at the bottom of the casting list (guess what will happen to him?) hears something in the lower compartment. Despite your futile "don't go down there, you jerk!&amp;quot; pleas, he does just that, and is appropriately killed (more like thoroughly obliterated) by the shadowy figure with insatiable blood lust on its mind. In the victim's case, dereliction of duty and sheer cowardliness would have been the wise decision. The scene is actually well-directed (for a change) and develops much suspense, as the entire film surprisingly does. The crew finally catches on that they have an unwanted ship crasher on board, and try every possible means at their disposal to eliminate it, but the unknown creature seems to copping an anti-death attitude. Proving to be an even more clever, worthy adversary, &#39;IT!&#39; also hides out in the ventilation shafts of the ship (now that should ring a bell). Cahn's forceful direction generates considerable tension as the malevolent stowaway works its way up from one level of the confined ship to the next, eventually leaving the remaining characters trapped at the top. The movie&#39;s suspense is blunt and right to the point: &quot;IT!&#39; has to kill them or starve,  hence they have to kill &amp;quot;IT!&quot; or die. Nothing like those &quot;no two ways about it" choices. Rent it, or check for it on cable if you wish to know the outcome. For a low-budget quickie, IT! is quite impressive and memorable. The dreaded sense of claustrophobic tension, rendering the characters&#39; helpless entrapment, is highly effective. This is a production in which the limited budget and small sets actually work in favor of the plot&#39;s scary ambience. The black &amp; white photography (Yes, it&amp;#39;s one of those!) helps to enhance its dark, creepy mood, and the sense of apprehension is quite high. (Modern day color freaks never seem to take that into consideration). The plot is also somewhat cynically ironic: If the creature hadn&#39;t stowed away on the ship, Carruthers would have most likely been found guilty of the charges against him. The intelligent script (see what I mean about &amp;quot;rareity&quot;) was penned by noted Science-Fiction author Jerome Bixby (remember Twilight Zone's &amp;quot;It's a Good Life&quot;)? The picture&#39;s taut editing eliminates any extraneous dross. (ALIEN tended to drag in its first hour with its sophomoric dialogue, and why did it have to include that stupid and ultimately counter-productive sub-plot of Ash being a robot, and further dragging the story down to another big bad conspiracy cliche? UNNECESSARY!!!) Director Cahn astutely keeps the rubber-suited monster off-screen and in the shadows through-out most of the proceedings, keeping your paranoid imagination on constant alert. Unfortunately, perhaps at the studio&#39;s commercial insistance,  it is a little over-revealed at the climax, but I haven&amp;#39;t claimed this to be the perfect masterpiece. The performances, though nothing award-winning,  are nevertheless cool enough so that one becomes sincerely concerned as to their fates. Not many movies in recent times ever come close to achieving that. They can be over-produced from here to eternity, and usually only succeed in being gloriously annoying. This film&#39;s story is not really totally original (what is?), for it is based on A.E. Van Vogt&amp;#39;s &amp;quot;VOYAGE OF THE SPACE BEAGLE.&quot; All ALIEN fanatics should track down an old used copy to see where the initial influence came from. As long as you're not craving another CGI wind-ding, you may find it worthwhile. Just don't expect the women to be Ripley precursors.
